Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does the recruitment process start?

We begin with a detailed consultation to understand your company’s workforce needs, required qualifications, and compliance with Australian labour laws. Our team then initiates the accreditation and recruitment steps through our DMW-accredited Philippine partner agency.

What is DMW?

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is the official Philippine government agency responsible for protecting and facilitating overseas employment for Filipino workers.

Why do I need to be accredited by DMW?

Employer accreditation is required of all employers worldwide who hire Filipino workers. The Department of Foreign Workers DMW (formerly known as POEA) requires it to ensure that there are actual jobs in the country of deployment. Moreover, under the POEA Rules and Regulations of 2016, Section 123, no employer may directly hire a Filipino worker to work abroad, hence the accreditation required for all employers.

Why do I need to go through accreditation with the DMW?

Employer accreditation is required for all overseas employers hiring Filipino workers. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) — formerly known as the POEA — ensures that legitimate job opportunities exist in the destination country. Under Section 123 of the 2016 POEA Rules and Regulations, no employer is permitted to hire Filipino workers directly for overseas employment. For this reason, accreditation is a mandatory step for all employers.

What does the DMW accreditation process involve?

Obtaining accreditation from the DMW is an essential step before recruitment can begin in the Philippines. This involves submitting several documents, such as:

  • an employment contract,
  • a recruitment agreement,
  • a Special Power of Attorney,
  • company registration details (ABN or equivalent), and other supporting paperwork.

These documents are reviewed and endorsed by the Philippine Embassy in Canberra (or the nearest consulate) and then forwarded to the DMW office in the Philippines for final approval.

How do I select candidates?

Once you provide us with your qualifications and role requirements, we identify matching candidates from our extensive database. Our recruitment team conducts an initial screening and pre-interview to confirm that each worker’s skills and experience meet your expectations and align with their CVs. After pre-qualification, candidate profiles — including résumés, certificates and passport copies — are sent to you for review.

How are interviews conducted?

Interviews can be held in person through our partner agency in Manila or virtually via platforms such as Zoom or Google Meet. Our recruitment coordinators are always available to assist both employers and applicants throughout the interview process, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

What if I’ve already found workers I want to hire?

If you have already identified the workers you wish to employ, we can assist with their registration through the DMW and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration. You, as the employer, will still need to complete the DMW accreditation process. Once accreditation is approved, we will contact your chosen workers and begin collecting their documents for processing.

How long does the process take?

From initial selection through to arrival in Australia, the full process generally takes around three to five months, depending on visa processing times and documentation requirements.

How long will the workers stay in Australia?

The minimum employment contract period is one year, though we recommend a two-year agreement to align with most Australian work visa terms (such as the Temporary Skill Shortage visa – Subclass 482). After two years, employers may apply to extend the visa or continue sponsorship, and our team can assist with the renewal process.

Do I need to pay for flights and health insurance?

Yes. Employers are responsible for covering the cost of the worker’s airfare to Australia as well as travel and health insurance (usually for the first one to three months) in accordance with Australian sponsorship obligations.

Do I need to provide accommodation?

Yes. Employers are required to provide suitable accommodation for workers upon arrival or assist them in securing appropriate housing as part of their duty of care.

Do I need to cover travel and insurance costs for the workers?

Yes. Employers are generally responsible for flight tickets, health insurance, and accommodation for newly hired overseas workers as part of standard sponsorship obligations under Australian migration law.
